Audiobooks
If you’re a published author, congratulations! Writing and publishing a book is a huge accomplishment, and one you should be proud of. These days, writing and publishing a book is half the “story.” Because you probably know by now that in this day and age, converting your written book into an audiobook is a must.
Why Audiobooks?
In recent years, the audiobook market has skyrocketed. According to Edison Research and Triton Digital’s The Infinite Dial 2019, 50 percent of Americans age 12 and older have listened to an audiobook, up from 44 percent in 2018! Why is that? Convenience. Where once you were limited to multiple CD’s or cassettes, now, you can listen to an audiobook on your tablet, smart phone, and almost any other mobile device. So now you can listen to them pretty much anywhere – in the car, at work, public transportation…wherever! According to Publishing Perspectives, an online business magazine that covers the trends, people, and companies shaping the global book industry, 74 percent of audiobook consumers listen in their car, up from 69 percent in 2018; the home is the second-most popular spot at 68 percent. So as you can see, if you haven’t converted your published book into an audiobook, you’re missing out. Get in on it!

Choose the Right Narrator
Chances are, you probably don’t have the time (or possibly voice over experience) to record an audiobook. You need a skilled audiobook narrator who will work with you to capture the essence of your book. That’s where a narrator like Bob Shaw comes in! Bob is an established audiobook narrator, comfortable in both fiction and non-fiction genres. His work can be heard on Audible, Amazon and iTunes under Robert J. Shaw. Bob uses his years of voice over experience to create the voice for your audiobook. For works of fiction, he will collaborate with you to pick the right style for the narrator role and discuss your characters to flesh them out and create the perfect and distinct voice for each. For works of non-fiction, you’ll work together to strike the right tone and pace.
ACX
Bob is also a member of the Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX), owned by Audible.com. ACX has a lengthy list of strict submission requirements. It can get quite confusing and intimidating. No need to worry, because Bob will edit and produce your audiobook to meet ACX specifications! Bob is also a graduate of the ACX Master Class, run by David H. Lawrence XVII and Dan O’Day, where he became proficient in ACX standards.
